Free Floating Flooring
Providing St George, UT with High Quality Free-Floating Floors
Here at St George Flooring, we like to use the term free-floating flooring. Free-floating floors are generally interlocking planks, installed without glue, that essentially float above the subfloor. There are a few vinyl products that don’t click together, that we still categorize as free-floating because they don’t glue down.
The most popular free-floating floor we sell is WPC and SPC. Other types of flooring in this category are laminate and certain vinyl products.
The Possibilities Are Endless with Our Vast Free-Floating Floor Options

Laminate
Laminate flooring is great if you want something cost-effective, durable, and water resistant. Laminate is made of multiple layers that are fused together with a lamination process. The base layer is a composite of melamine and fiber board materials. On top of that we have the photographic layer, where an image is placed to give it the look of hardwood or tile. Then it has a topcoat that preserves the image and protects it from everyday wear and tear.
Something to keep in mind, this product is water resistant, meaning it can handle small amounts of moisture or water on the surface. If large amounts of water were to get underneath, the product may swell and need replacing. Therefore, it’s great for living areas or bedrooms, but not ideal for bathrooms.
Vinyl
Luxury Vinyl flooring luxury vinyl flooring snaps together like interlocking pieces of a giant puzzle. The overlapping seals between the grooves keep water from seeping through. The beauty of this design is that not only can you install Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP) and Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) with relatively no glue (some glue can be applied in certain areas like edges for a stronger seal in certain cases), but in the event that one plank becomes heavily damaged or worn down, you can replace individual planks without the need to replace the entire floor.
Luxury Vinyl flooring also comes with glue down options which can be read about on our Luxury Vinyl page.
LVT is popular in both businesses and homes for its resistance to water, comfortable texture, and sound dampening technology. While not as quiet as carpet, LVP and LVT are much quieter than hardwood or stone and makes for a great flooring option for high-traffic areas.
Vinyl flooring sports a photographic layer where realistic images like wood grain, stone texture, solid colors, and even company logos can be printed. It is generally much cheaper than real hardwood planks, and ceramic or stone tiles, and also more comfortable to walk or stand on for long periods of time.

What is WPC & SPC Flooring?
Wood Plastic Composite, WPC, and Stone Plastic Composite, SPC, are relatively new to the flooring market. Both WPC and SPC fall under the category of Luxury Vinyl Flooring, but are also in a category all their own. The main difference between traditional luxury vinyl flooring and WPC and SPC being that WPC and SPC have a special core layer. WPC’s core is made with recycled wood pulp and plastic composites, and SPC’s is made with limestone powder and plastic composites. Both are then topped with a layer of vinyl.
